What happens when entrepreneurship is not about unicorn start-ups or rapid scaling, but about everyday ventures that bring people together? The Everyday-Everyone Entrepreneurship (EEE) project explores exactly that.
Funded by the Research Council of Finland, the EEE project is a four-year research initiative (September 2023 – August 2027) that investigates forms of entrepreneurship that are typically low-growth, low-tech, and low-innovation. While such ventures may never scale into large firms, they play a vital role in fostering social inclusion and making entrepreneurship accessible to all.
Despite being widespread, these everyday entrepreneurial activities remain underrepresented in policy debates and academic research, which tend to prioritise high-growth, technology-driven firms. This creates a significant blind spot in understanding how entrepreneurship contributes to inclusive societies, which the EEE project aims to address.
1. How does “everyday-everyone” entrepreneurship unfold in practice?
2. How does it influence social inclusion?
To explore these questions, the EEE project examines diverse contexts, from creative and cultural hubs to community-based enterprises. The project also works directly with entrepreneurs through workshops and events, generating insights for both academic and practitioner audiences. One example of this is the Lapinlahden Lähde workshop report, developed in collaboration with local entrepreneurs and international partners.
Bringing together diverse expertise, the project is led by Principal Investigator Ewald Kibler and includes researchers Tamara Galkina, Bernadetta Ginting-Szczesny, Aracely Soto-Simeone, and Canan Keles.
