Aalto University is leading a major European effort to make entrepreneurship education more connected, inclusive, and impactful. The COnnecting and DEvelopment of UNiversity-oriented InnovaTion Ecosystems through entrepreneurship eDucation (CODEUNITED) project, funded with 1.34 million euros by the EIT Higher Education Initiative and running from April 2025 – April 2027, brings together partners from Finland, France, Portugal, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
While universities host vibrant innovation ecosystems, they often operate in silos, with limited coordination between actors and a weak link to student activities. CODEUNITED addresses this gap by developing educational offerings that unite ecosystem players, avoid duplication, and create meaningful opportunities for students to engage with real-world entrepreneurial contexts. The project builds on the experience of two earlier EIT Higher Education Initiatives, C-ACCELERATE and INCREDIT, allowing the consortium to draw on proven practices and lessons learned to strengthen the impact of CODEUNITED.
The project is coordinated at Aalto by the Entrepreneurship Unit at the School of Business, with contributions from the School of Engineering (Aalto Design Factory), the School of Science (Department of Industrial Engineering and Management), and Aalto Innovation Ecosystem Services. The project consists of Aalto (Coordinator) and EDHEC Business School, Brunel University of London, LAB University of Applied Sciences, and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, along with industry partners MAZE IMPACT, S.A, West London Business, and Cogknit Oy, and associated partners Ikigaia Oy, Pääomasijoittajat ry (Finnish Venture Capital Association), and Vaasa University of Applied Sciences.
At Aalto, the work is led by Principal Investigator Ewald Kibler, with Zoltan Javor as Project Manager and Apurva Ganoo as Project Coordinator.
